A Winter Passes and Another Comes
A winter passes and another comes, the doors are shut and the roads are heavy with snow and ice. No rain comes, no roses adorn the eyes with their colours. Nothing remains but trees abandoned by their green leaves, weighed down by frost.
And I am alone. My soul has left its longings behind and wandered lost through the streets. No sound but the clash of the wind, and the desolate whiteness stretching with the soul’s yearning for distant warmth.
Here I am then, besieged by frost. Loved ones have left their places. The tables stand silent without those who sat at them, the glasses remain empty with nothing left for a last sip, the lights have gone out. Even the waiter left the place and forgot to say goodbye.
