Three Generations

The picture was taken today at Art Dubai, and it was my dear Yamen’s idea to capture this image showing three generations: grandfather, son, and grandchildren — myself, my son engineer Ibrahim, and the grandchildren: Iraq, Yamen, and Ryan.

The grandchildren’s questions, ideas, and conversations on various topics fill me with joy. One of them in particular opened a space for dialogue between us:

Is it true that the first step in the decline of any culture is the decline of its art? And is it true that the flourishing of art is a sign of a country’s cultural vibrancy and development?

Just questions whose answers give rise to more questions.
