You Be the Judge

Damien Tarrell, 28, was arrested after slapping French President Macron. The prosecution sought a year and a half in prison, on the charge of: assaulting a public official. Let us note: assaulting a public official.

The defendant’s lawyer argued that the French president was at fault for failing to respect the 1-meter COVID health safety distance. Damien was released.

That is one mindset and culture.

The national teams of Denmark and Finland met in a European Championship match. In the 42nd minute of the first half, Danish player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch, unconscious. The moment he fell, play stopped. The Danish captain adjusted his position to prevent him from swallowing his tongue, and performed urgent CPR before the medical team arrived within seconds.

The Danish players formed a wall around their teammate, allowing the medical staff to work while preserving his privacy. Silence fell over the stadium. Some fans from both teams wept as sorrow filled every corner of the ground. No one interrupted to talk about time, play, or victory. Everyone’s only concern was saving Eriksen, whose wife descended to the pitch in tears but did not approach the treating medical staff.

That is another mindset and culture. Is it not?

Let us reflect these two scenes upon ourselves. You be the judge.
